Cryopreservation of Mouse Sperm

Cryopreservation and storage of mouse sperm using liquid nitrogen.

Price: $250

Services provided by the facility:

Sperm will be obtained from male mice and will be frozen in liquid nitrogen.  One vial will be removed two weeks later to determine sperm viability.

 

Responsibilities of the investigator:

· Two male mice of breeding age will be necessary for cryopreservation of sperm.  They need to be housed away from females for three days before harvesting the sperm.  Proven breeders are ideal.

· Provide us with the following information before day of freezing:

                         Genetic name of the mouse

                         Whether it is a transgenic or targeted line

                         Mouse number (your number)

                         Birthdate

                         Genotype (homozygous or heterozygous)

                         Mouse background strain

 

· Submit a “service request form”.

Cryopreservation of Mouse Sperm Fee includes:

$250 will be charged for cryopreservation of mouse sperm.

No additional fee will be charged for sperm viability check two weeks after freeze.

A yearly storage fee of $50 will be charged for 1-50 vials of sperm, $100 for 51-100 vials, and $150 for 101-150 vials.
