Transgenic / Gene Targeting Facility |

Guaranteed at least 200 implanted eggs. |

Transgenic Mice |
Production of Transgenic Mice using pronuclear injection. |
Services provided by the facility: The transgenic mouse facility will superovulate donor mice, harvest single cell embryos and inject DNA provided by the investigator. Surviving embryos will be implanted into pseudopregnant females. Tail biopsies from all resulting pups of weaning age will be returned to the investigator for genotyping. At least 200 embryos will be injected and implanted. However, there is NO guarantee that transgenic animals will be produced. Responsibilities of the investigator: · Discuss experimental design with facility director before initiation of the project. · Purify your DNA construct using protocols provided by the facility. We need ~1ug of purified, concentrated DNA in low EDTA-TE. · Provide a map of the construct including size, vector, promoter, reporter if any. · Provide gel documentation of the purity and concentration of the DNA construct. · Develop a reliable genotyping assay before submission of DNA. · Obtain IACUC approval for your project before submission of the DNA. · Obtain space within the Animal Resources Center for housing founder animals. · Submit a “service request form”.
Transgenic Production of Mice Fee includes:
Using F1 (C57Bl/6 x CBA) embryos: $1900 will be charged upon completing injection of the DNA. Using inbred C57Bl/6 embryos: $3100 will be charged upon completing injection of the DNA. Any animals left with the facility longer than 3 weeks after tail biopsies have been returned for genotyping will be charged to the investigator at $2.00/ day/ cage of animals. |
