Transgenic/Gene Targeting Facility |

We are a full service Transgenic and Gene Targeting Mouse Core associated with the University of Utah and located in scenic Salt Lake City, Utah. The facility is available to make transgenic mice by pronuclear injection and by gene-targeted mice using ES cell technology and blastocyst injection. The Transgenic and Gene-targeting Facility also offers related procedures including sperm-freezing, embryo freezing, rederivation of mouse lines, IVF, ICSI, derivation of primary ES cells, and karyotyping. The tissue culture/electroporation lab and the microinjection/surgery room along with our pathogen-free animal room are housed in the Huntsman Cancer Institute on campus. The core offers technical advice regarding injection procedures, cell culture techniques, vector design and construction; and maintains the necessary mouse colonies and cell lines for these basic procedures. The Core is available to investigators at the University of Utah as well as to those at other universities and research facilities.
