Transgenic/Gene Targeting Facility

  We are a full service Transgenic and Gene Targeting Facility located in scenic Salt Lake City, Utah.

   The facility is available to make transgenic mice using pronuclear injection and gene-targeted mice using ES cell technology and blastocyst injection.  

   A new tissue culture/electroporation lab has recently been built to complement the existing microinjection/surgery room and pathogen-free animal room that are currently housed in the Huntsman Cancer Institute.  

   The core offers technical advice regarding injection procedures, cell culture techniques, vector design and construction; and maintains the necessary mouse colonies for these basic procedures. 

   The Transgenic and Gene-targeting Facility also offers related procedures including sperm-freezing, rederivation of mouse lines, IVF, and karyotyping.
