Tom Morton
Software Engineer Extraordinaire
Dr. Morton received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Georgia
in 1991. He worked as a Postdoctoral Scientist at SmithKline Beecham for
four years where he collaborated with Dr. Myszka to develop software
programs designed to improve biosensor data analysis. These programs have
expanded the applications of biosensors by introducing the field to
numerical integration and global analysis, as well as including mass
transport and other complex binding reactions in the analysis.
Currently, Dr. Morton is working with the Center to develop new methods of
processing biosensor data to improve the speed and reliability of the
analysis. Future programs will be designed for dedicated applications, such
as concentration analysis and small molecule screening to support the
implementation of biosensors in drug discovery.
Dr. Morton has developed other programs, including
Bugbrain,
which is an educational software program that simulates the function of neural networks.
