sensor surface
The biosensor surface is where one of the reactants, typically referred to as the ligand,
is immobilized.
A wide variety of surface chemistries designed for specific application are available.
The most popular surface from Biacore contains a carboxymethyldextran hydrogel. Other available
surfaces include: low charge, shorter dextran, hydrophobic alkane surfaces, as well as plain gold.
There are, however, two general methods for assay design:;
direct immobilization or capturing.
