Nanoliter spotting technology can be used to immobilize proteins within a confined area
on the sensor chip.
The figure on the right shows an array of 400 proteins spotted in a 20x20 grid.
The spotted surface is assembled into a flow cell that is about the size of a dime.
The number of molecules spotted on a given surface can vary from 1 to around 600 depending on the resolution
of the spotting technology.
