There are three main components to all affinity based biosensors:

The detector which uses SPR to monitor refractive index changes at the surface.

The sample delivery system which rapidly introduces and washes away analyte during a binding experiment.

The sensor surface where the ligand may be immobilized using a variety of coupling methods.
