Universal Sequencing Primers

Primers are in 200 ul aliquotes at a concentration of 2 pmoles/ul, and can be picked up at the Core lab or dropoff locations. Users are responsible for adding the primer to their own samples. Please do not return used primer tubes to the primer rack, Take it with out and use it again as needed.
We recommend adding 4 ul to sequencing reactions for most samples.

Primer Name Tube Label Primer Sequence(5’ -> 3’)
M13 Forward (-20) M13F GTA AAA CGA CGG CCA GT
M13 Reverse (-27) M13R CAG GAA ACA GCT ATG AC
T7 Promoter T7 TAA TAC GAC TCA CTA TAG G
T3 Promoter T3 ATT AAC CCT CAC TAA AGG G
SP6 Upstream SP6 ATT TAG GTG ACA CTA TAG
T7 Terminator T7term GCT AGT TAT TGC TCA GCG G

Important:

There are several diverent "versions" of universal primers. It can be confusing! The best thing is to check your vector map and confirm that you are using the right primer with the right sequence! If we do not offer the exact primer you need, just order it from the DNA oligo Facility. Primers are cheap, much cheaper than a batch of failed sequences!

Here, for example, are other universal primers with similar names but different sequences (currently not available at the Core):

M13 Forward (-40) GTT TTC CCA GTC ACG AC
M13 Reverse (-48) AGC GGA TAA CAA TTT CAC AC
SP6 Promoter TAC GAT TTA GGT GAC ACT ATA G
