Q-ToF-II (Micromass/ Waters)
The MS core acquired a Q-ToF mass spectrometer in 2007 from the lab of James McCloskey (the instrument was originally installed in 2000). The instrument will be upgraded with new electronics, data system, and latest software in May 2008. The instrument will also be equipped with a new nano LC system from Eksigent. This instrument has electrospray ionization, LC/MS, MS/MS, and can be used for accurate-mass measurements (i.e. within 10 ppm).
For applications of the instrument, see available services.
How the Quattro-II is Equipped
- Microspray ESI/MS or ESI/MS/MS (infusion of samples)
- Nanospray ESI/MS or ESI/MS/MS or LC/MS/MS
- LC/MS or LC/MS/MS
(Eksigent nanoLC system; nanobore LC, 75 to 100 um ID C18; 100 to 500 nL/min flow rates with gradients) - MS/MS with collision-induced dissociation (CID)
- Masslynx 4.0 software
The facility is also equipped with several other instruments:
