Flow Cytometry Information:

Information:  The Purdue University Cytometry Labs is the host site for the international flow cytometry electronic bulletin board as well as information on free data analysis software, meetings and links to other flow cytometry labs.  The bulletin board messages are archived and searchable for those looking for answers to application/technique questions.

Fluorescent Probes:  A table of fluorochromes commonly used in various types of flow cytometers and fluorescent microscopes which is found on the Flow Cytometry webpage of the Salk Institute.  Also available is a look-up chart of specific fluorochrome excitation and emission curves from Bio-Rad and another similar chart from the University of Arizona.

Related information:

Antibody cross reactivity: A taxonomic comparison of monoclonal antibody specificities and cross-species reactivity from the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  Another cross reactions chart is available from the University of Florida Flow Cytometry website.

Monoclonal Ab specificity: The "CD" dictionary published by the Washington State University Monoclonal Antibody Resource Center or PROW (Protein Reviews on the Web) from the NIH.

Apoptosis: A listing of regulators of apoptosis published by the University of Michigan or the Apoptosis Website maintained by Boehringer-Mannheim.

General information: The dictionary of Cell and Molecular Biology offers a wide variety of definitions and explanations.  The Macrophage Home Page offers many informative facts for those working with this cell type.

Organizations:

The International Society for Analytical Cytology which is the publisher of the journal Cytometry and the major organization for flow and image cytometry.

The Clinical Cytometry Society a subdivision of the above society which deals with clinical applications.

Reagents and supplies:

Antibody search engines: Sources to search for suppliers of monoclonal antibodies: Abcam, The Antibody Resource Page and MSRS Catalog of Primary Antibodies,

Commercial antibody suppliers: For "CD" antibodies to mouse, human and a few other species antigens:

Becton-Dickinson (includes Clontech and Pharmingen).  A major supplier of instrumentation and CD antibodies, primarily to human antigens, conjugated to a wide variety of fluorochromes.  The Pharmingen subsidiary carries antibodies directed primarily to other species and many antibodies to human "non-CD" signal transduction and cell cycle control antigens.  BD and Pharmingen also sell "fix and permeablization" kits for intracellular staining, apoptosis detection reagents, cytometric bead array kits and antigen quantitation kits.  Note: Orders for BD reagents (not Pharmingen or Clontech) , placed through the University of Utah, will receive a university discount off the list price.

Beckman-Coulter  A major supplier of instrumentation and antibodies to human antigens (both CD and others) conjugated to a wide variety of fluorochromes as well as "fix and permeablization" kits for intracellular staining, apoptosis detection reagents, cytometric bead array kits and antigen quantitation kits.

BioDesign  A wide variety of fluorochrome conjugates and antibodies to human and non-human CD antigens, and numerous factors involved in signal transduction, cell cycle control, apoptosis and immune regulation.

Caltag  A wide variety of fluorochrome conjugates and antibodies to human and many non-human CD antigens, and numerous factors involved in signal transduction, cell cycle control, apoptosis and immune regulation.  Also provide animal sera and polyclonal antibodies and distribute monoclonal antibodies from several European manufacturers.

Cell Signaling Technology  Antibodies, specifically developed for flow cytometry, specific for activation and cell signaling molecules.

Chemicon  A wide variety of fluorochrome conjugates and antibodies to human and non-human CD antigens, and numerous factors involved in signal transduction, cell cycle control, apoptosis and immune regulation.  Have recently added a functional assay kit for multidrug resistance and MDR expression.
